TV Review - Goodnight for Justice

Jason Priestley (left) and
Luke Perry in "Goodnight for Justice"
The Hallmark Movie Channel originally broadcast this western starring Luke Perry and directed by Jason Priestley. Perry and Priestley both are of TV fame, former stars of Beverly Hills 90210. Perry plays a post Civil War judge named John Goodnight. Goodnight is assigned to be the justice officer of a small town that is run by a corrupt businessman named Dan Reed. Reed may also be the one responsible for murdering Goodnight's family when he was only a boy.

Perry is awesome and perfect as this grisled, gun-slinging justice with a very strong and good moral compass but who's tempted to exact his own revenge and become as dark as the corrupt men he prosecutes. Perry is handsome, confident, charming, witty and a certified force to be reckoned with.

Aided by slick writing, Priestley's direction is note-hitting. He balances what is a western and a legal drama. All of the scenes are handled with finesse. They're always interesting and engaging and it bodes well for Priestley as a director.

Five Stars out of Five.
Rated TV-PG for violence.
Running Time: 1 hr. and 28 mins.
