Sexiest Stars of 2019... So Far

20. COLTON UNDERWOOD - Normally, I eschew reality TV stars. I prefer spotlighting actors and actresses who have made an impact on the year, but I'll make an exception this time. He's a 27-year-old, former football player, though one with not a very long or illustrious career. He was signed to the San Diego Chargers in 2014. He was waived after only four months. He signed onto the practice squad of the Oakland Raiders in 2015, but was released in less than a year. He had to retire due to a shoulder injury. If he had continued playing, I probably wouldn't know who he is, being that I don't follow the NFL. I don't follow reality TV either, so when he appeared in the 14th season of The Bachelorette in 2018, I still had no clue who he was. When he appeared in the 5th season of Bachelor in Paradise, another reality show, I continued to have no clue who he was. It wasn't until he became the star of the 23rd season of The Bachelor that I finally heard about him. The philanthropist has garnered a lot of headlines as he's probably the first and only male contestant to be a virgin going into the show and coming out of it. Given the stereotypes about his career and given that he's 6-foot-3 and 255-pounds of pure muscle or as one woman called "a chiseled god," it was interesting to see a national example of male chastity but who wasn't pushing it due to evangelical reasons, even though he's probably a religious person.

19. MISS AMERICA / MISS USA / MISS TEEN USA - 2019 became the first year that Miss America, Miss USA and Miss Teen USA were all African-American women. Nia Franklin was crowned Miss America 2019, representing New York but having come from North Carolina. Cheslie Kryst was crowned Miss USA 2019, representing North Carolina, having come from there and working as a lawyer. Kryst is also the oldest person to win that title. Kaleigh Garris was crowned Miss Teen USA, representing Connecticut. She's biracial but drew headlines for wearing her natural afro-textured hair during the competition.

18. CHARLES MELTON - The 28-year-old is from Juneau, Alaska. He's half-Korean. He's also part Cherokee and part white. He played football for Kansas State University. He was a model, working for Dolce & Gabbana. His first acting roles were in TV shows by Ryan Murphy. His most prominent role is in CW's Riverdale where he took over the role of Reggie Mantle from Ross Butler in 2017. This year is a breakout for him because he was the hot guy in Ariana Grande's music video, "Break Up with Your Girlfriend, I'm Bored." However, he was also the love interest in the mainstream film The Sun Is Also a Star.

17. YARA SHAHIDI - She stepped out on her own at 18 with the lead in the spin-off TV series, Grown-ish. This year, she stepped out as the lead of a mainstream movie, The Sun Is Also a Star. She was opposite Melton in some steamy scenes. Like Melton, she started out modeling but as a child. Her father is of Iranian descent. Her mother is of African descent and of Choctaw heritage. She's also a political activist encouraging people her age to vote. She's also currently attending Harvard University. Her photo comes from her appearance at this year's Met Gala.

16. BEAU MIRCHOFF - He started acting as a teenager in his homeland of Canada. His first major movie role was in Scary Movie 4 in 2006. His first sexy role where he was shirtless was in The Grudge 3 (2009). He continued having shirtless scenes in TV shows like Desperate Housewives, which he joined in 2009, and films like I Am Number Four, which came out in 2011. His prominent role was in MTV's Awkward in which he played a popular jock where he had numerous shirtless scenes. This year, he appeared in two TV shows. The first is Freeform's Good Trouble and the other is Starz's Now Apocalypse, the show which plays up his sex appeal the most of anything the 30-year-old has done.

15. MEAGAN GOOD - The 37-year-old also started out acting as a child. Her first major role was at sixteen when she appeared in Eve's Bayour (1997). She scored a main role on the Nickelodeon series Cousin Skeeter. She's had a career that's spanned over 20 years. She's described herself as a "sexy Christian." She's been considered somewhat of a sex symbol for nearly all of those 20 years. Her best role though brief was her character in Brick (2005). The movie in which she starred that made the most money was Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues (2013). Her sex appeal is the target of an older man's obsession in this year's film The Intruder. She also had a surprising role in the super-hero film Shazam!.

14. NOAH GRAY-CABEY - He's another child actor. He was only six when he showed up in the sitcom My Wife and Kids in 2002. He was only ten when he co-starred on NBC's Heroes. He was a cute little boy in both, very precocious and quite talented. He's another actor on this list to attend Harvard University. He was also a bit of a music prodigy. It's weird because in the decade since his work on Heroes, he went from an adorable little boy to a small yet gorgeous hunk who is more muscular than most actors twice his age. He got super-ripped. This year, he was perfectly placed in Freeform's Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists.

13. DIANA SILVERS - She is extremely new. It was only a few years ago that IMG Models, an international modeling and talent agency, scouted her when she was a senior in high school. She used modeling to pay for school. She attended NYU before dropping out due to a family emergency. She's only 21 and she made her screen debut just last November in the Hulu series Into the Dark. Less than a year later, she has appeared in three feature films: M. Night Shyamalan's Glass, Tate Taylor's Ma and Olivia Wilde's Booksmart.

12. LUKE EVANS - The 40-year-old was also in Tate Taylor's Ma. He was way more sexualized in that film than Silvers. He's the object of desire in a more overt way. He's a Welsh beefcake who has been in a ton of huge epics like Clash of the Titans (2010), Robin Hood (2010) and Immortals (2011) in which he played Zeus where he showed off all his muscular glory. He was in all three of Peter Jackson's The Hobbit films. He was the villain in Fast & Furious 6 (2013). He played the dashing Gaston in the remake of Beauty and the Beast (2017). This year is turning out to be a busy year for the openly gay actor with four movies to promote.

11. GILLIAN ANDERSON - She will probably be forever known as Dana Scully, one of the greatest female characters ever created for television. She played that character on FOX's The X-Files, starting in 1993. She did so for nine years. The show ended in 2002, but she picked up the character when the show was revived in 2016. In all of that time, we only got to see Anderson be sexy in one episode. I didn't really get to see her sexy side again until she did the Irish TV series The Fall. We also got to see a slightly different side to her in NBC's Hannibal. Earlier this year, she continued showing off that different side by co-starring in Netflix's Sex Education, in which she plays a sex therapist who goes through a different man, one after the other.

10. HARRY SHUM JR. - The 37-year-old was born in Costa Rica and was raised to speak Spanish, but he's of Chinese descent. He got his start in Hollywood by being a dancer and choreographer. He popped up in several films. He's best known for his role on the TV series Glee (2009). He had a brief role in the blockbuster film Crazy Rich Asians, but he's currently on the fantasy series Shadowhunters, which his appeal is illustrated in the YouTube video of Shum reading thirst tweets.

9. NIECY NASH - She's an Emmy-nominated actress who has been working in television since the mid 90's. She's had a long career and been in dozens of projects from Reno 911! to Masters of Sex. She's mainly known for her comedic performances, but she can do drama. Nothing proves that than her role in this year's series on Netflix, When They See Us, which is about the Central Park Five. She plays the mother of one of the accused. However, the reason she's on this list is her role on TNT's Claws, which is now in its third season. I overlooked the first, two seasons, but thanks to Hulu I've caught up, and her sexiness and her being a boss are completely undeniable.

8. CODY CHRISTIAN - He's half Native American. He grew up in Maine. He's only 24, but he's had a recurring role on Pretty Little Liars. He was also nominated for a Teen Choice Award for his role on MTV's Teen Wolf. His sex appeal was apparent on the MTV show that trafficked in showing off the male body. His performance on the CW's All American where he plays a high school football player is why he's being recognized. It's not just his looks but his acting that makes him one to keep an eye on. His spread in Bello magazine was also particularly well done.

7. MICHELLE WILLIAMS - The 38-year-old actress first came to my attention in the TV series Dawson's Creek back in 1998. She left that series and rose to become one of the most acclaimed actresses working today. She was nominated for four Academy Awards. The first was for Brokeback Mountain (2005). She then was up for Oscars for Blue Valentine (2011), My Week With Marilyn (2012) and Manchester By the Sea (2017). She also got listed for a Tony Award in 2016 for the Broadway play, Blackbird. However, she has never been more stellar than in her current role in FX's Fosse/Verdon in which she plays Gwen Verdon, the former wife of Bob Fosse, one of the greatest choreographers and directors who has ever lived. Verdon was also an actress, singer and dancer who lived in Fosse's shadow. Watching Williams embody her was brilliant. Watching her sing and dance was also extraordinary.

6. MCKINLEY BELCHER III - He's from Atlanta, Georgia. He got his MFA in Acting from USC. He had recurring roles in Starz's Power and HBO's Show Me a Hero. He had a main role in PBS' Mercy Street. I didn't take note of him until his appearance on Netflix's Ozark. Besides his beautiful, African-American form, he's worthy of note because of his very busy year that is 2019. In addition to appearing in more episodes of Ozark, he also had a supporting role in FOX's The Passage. By the year's end though, he would have appeared in four feature films. He was in Mapplethorpe, Trial By Fire and The Art of Racing in the Rain. There's also an untitled Noah Baumbach project that he's slated to have as well.

5. NAOMI SCOTT - She's a 26-year-old actress from London, England. She's half-Indian. She was in the short-lived Terra Nova on FOX. She also played the Pink Ranger in the reboot of Power Rangers (2017). It was quite the career-changer when she was cast to play Princess Jasmine in the live-action remake of Aladdin (2019). The film got middle-of-the-road reviews. A lot of people distinguish her as a standout, mainly because she's given a new song to sing that wasn't in the original. The new song is in the vein of "Let It Go" from Frozen, but it may not catch on as successfully. The song is called "Speechless" and she really belts it out impressively.

4. CHARLIE BARNETT - He's a graduate of Julliard. He caught my attention when he was cast in NBC's Chicago Fire. Before he began that series, he did three independent films. All of which were queer films. He did Private Romeo (2012), Gayby (2012) and The Happy Sad (2013). In each film, he's the object of a homoerotic gaze. He had a main role in the short-lived series Valor. He guest starred in Netflix's Orange Is the New Black, which apparently put him on Netflix's radar, because 2019 has him with prominent roles in three Netflix shows. The first is Russian Doll. The second is Tales of the City. The last is You.

3. TESSA THOMPSON - The 35-year-old attended Santa Monica College. She's been working in film and television since 2005. She had a main role on the hit series Veronica Mars. She got a lot of eyes on her when she appeared in Tyler Perry's For Colored Girls. She really didn't make an impression on me until 2014 when she starred in the landmark film Dear White People. Her performance in that was incredible. From there, her career took off. She then co-starred in the Rocky sequel Creed (2015). Last year was a good year for her, but this year is shaping up to be not so bad. She appeared in Avengers: Endgame, the biggest film of the year. She was the lead in two features, including the blockbuster franchise Men in Black: International. She's also going to be the voice of the first titular character in the live-action remake of Lady and the Tramp, which will premiere on Disney+. Her pictures are from Marie Claire magazine.

2. RICHARD MADDEN - He's the Scottish actor who's best known for playing Robb Stark in HBO's Game of Thrones. He played that role from 2011 to 2013. He was nominated for the "Cause You're Hot" category at the NewNowNext Awards. His appeal outside of that show started to become clear when he played the handsome prince in the live-action remake of Cinderella (2015). He had a twitchy role in a fun action film called Bastille Day (2016). Last year, he was in a Netflix film called Ibiza, in which his role was simply being the hot guy, the very sweet, hot guy. This year, his star-power is ever ascendant. He's most likely going to be nominated for an Emmy for his sexy role in the series Bodyguard for which he's already won the Golden Globe. He also had a sexy role in Rocketman, the biopic about Elton John. Later in the year, he's going to be in the war movie 1917.

1. BEYONCÉ - I don't think I need to explain who she is. She is one of the best-selling music artists of all time. She is an internationally known pop star. Her name is recognized all over the world. She has a fan following that is greater and more aggressive than any other. She could have made the top of this list every year since she became a solo artist in 2003. Prior to that, she was in a 90's girl group known as Destiny's Child. The 37-year-old from Houston, Texas, is beyond beautiful. The reason she makes this list this year is because she released a movie, which she directed, called Homecoming on Netflix that was based on her mind-blowing performance at Coachella last year.

Honorable mentions: Blake Jenner from What/If. David Tag of Hollyoaks. Geovanni Gopradi of The Haves and the Have Nots and Dynasty. Sydney Park from Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists. Zendaya from Spider-Man: Far From Home and Euphoria. Tom Ellis of Lucifer.
